The Goals of Competence Based Curriculum for Playgroup
A. Development of Social Emotion The child of the Playgroup may be apart from his/her mother without crying, in order to be self-standing at school and play along with his/her friends The pupil of Al Jabr’s Playgroup may also develop his/her self confidence and appears before the audience. They are also directed to participate in every school activity.
B. Physical Motoric Capabilities (Rough Motoric) The pupils’ activities in Al Jabr Playgroup related with Rough Motoric are contained in the form of amusing games. While playing, the pupils can practice and develop their rough motoric capabilities such as: to throw and catch a big ball, to jump over a box with two legs. Besides their rough motoric capabilities, the pupils are also expected to grow and become sportive as well as enthusiastic children.
C. Soft Motoric Capabilities The pupil’s activities in Al Jabr Playgroup related with his/her Soft Motoric Development are also provided through exciting games, such as playing with wax, introducing cutting activities, picture coloring, and even decorating simple pictures, where through these activities the pupils are expected to develop their capability of coordinating their eyes and hands. Cognitive Development (Mathematics and Language).
D. Mathematics For mathematics teaching and learning, in Al Jabr Playgroup it’s also provided through interactive games such as calculating through singing, sticking pictures while extending the existing patterns, following and mentioning numbers consecutively, grouping toys or playing materials available in the classroom. For numbering concept, the pupils of Al Jabr Playgroup are expected, by end of learning year, to be able to know the numbering symbols of 1 to 5, and the concepts of number 1 to 3.
E. Language The pupils of Al Jabr Playgroup will develop their language capabilities through poems, songs, and stories. Through these activities the pupils are motivated to tell simple stories or to read a poem, both in Indonesian and English languages, to sing Indonesian and English songs. Through listening much to stories, it’s expected that the pupils would enrich their vocabularies.
F. Art Al Jabr pupils’ sense of art is expected to develop through coloring simple pictures, decorating simple pictures by putting collages on them or tearing papers. Dancing together in the classroom is also expected to develop the children’s sense of art, as well as their capability to express themselves in harmony with the music rhythms.
